We usually use this blog to provide news about home loans, but we occasionally like to provide local stories to tell you why we love being mortgage brokers in the Rockingham area. As long time readers of this blog will know, we love the family-friendly environment in Rockingham, Baldivis, Kwinana and other suburbs in the area.
This is why we were happy about the recent opening of a state of the art Salvation Army Centre in Rockingham. The new building has 18 working spaces, five more than the old building. It also has a specialised eating area, air conditioning, a boardroom, two meeting rooms and a purpose built op-shop.
The centre also contains a new commercial-grade kitchen that is twice as large as their previous kitchen. The Salvation Army Centre provides services to the needy and will eventually include a youth drop-in centre.
Why We are Excited
We believe in being good people. One of the best measures of a person or a city’s “goodness” is how they treat those who are disadvantaged. We are proud to see the state of the art centre go up. We are even prouder about where some of the money came from. $62,000 from the Rotary Club of Rockingham was used to build the kitchen. The solar panels were purchased with a $29,000 donation from an individual member of the Rockingham community.
Lotterywest contributed $220,000. The rest of the money to build the centre came from wills, legacies and grants that were donated to the Salvation Army.
We see the Rockingham area as a place where people aren’t so busy that they have forgotten what is important. The Rockingham area is filled with people who are good neighbours and good citizens who are quick to say “hi” and quicker to help a person in need.
I am proud to be a member of such a giving, family-friendly community.
Rockingham: take a bow. You deserve it.
