As one of the most prolific brokers for home loans in the Rockingham area, we like to know how we are doing compared to other suburbs in the Perth market. We are proud to be part of the Rockingham area and when we see reports like this recent one from CoreLogic-RP Data, we are even more proud.
The report covers which suburbs sold the most homes in the last twelve months. It was commissioned by ING Direct. Rockingham came in fourth with 2,389 homes sold with a median price of $431,600. We are curious about the median prices because it seems like every report cites a different one but they are still a good guide as to how the market is going.
The report covered all of Australia and had some other interesting statistics. Ten years ago, the average homebuyer was 37.7 years old. This has increased to 37.9 years old. However, in WA, the age decreased from 38.6 years old to 38.4.
What Does This Mean for Home Loans in Rockingham?
The first three suburbs were Stirling, Wanneroo and Joondalup. All are within 25 km of Perth. We are by far the most prolific or “hot” outer ring suburb in the Perth area. This bodes well for anyone thinking of buying a home here. So, why are we so blessed in Rockingham?
Rockingham is one of the most desirable places to live in Australia. We are close enough to Perth that it isn’t a hassle to get there but far enough away that we are still referred to as a sea change destination. We also have “hot suburb” Baldivis, Kwinana, Cockburn and Mandurah as part of our area.
When you add it all together, you get a relaxed, family-friendly area which offers the lifestyle of a smaller city but with easy access to Perth.
